Global Goals Week 2018: Simply Sustainable SDG Quiz
To do our bit to help raise awareness of the SDGs and the issues they aim to solve, we ran a daily poll on Twitter during the third annual Global Goals Week which took place at the end of September. Below is a summary of the questions, answers and results, with the percentage figure in brackets after each answer denoting the proportion of respondents who selected it:
Question: The SDGs are targeting Equal Pay For Equal Work. On current trends, when does the World Economic Forum expect the gender pay gap to close?
Options and results: 2052 (40%), 2100 (20%), 2186 (40%). The right answer is 2186.
Question: According to the Sustainable Development Commission, what is the estimated annual value – in business savings and revenue – of a concerted effort to meet the SDGs?
Options and results: $7 trillion (33%), $12 trillion (33%), $17 trillion (33%). The right answer is $12 trillion.
Question: According to an EU citizen survey on development, cooperation and aid, what is the average awareness rate of the SDGs. Options and results: 1 in 5 (25%), 1 in 10 (38%), 1 in 15 (37%). The right answer is 1 in 10.
Question: The SDGs recognise the importance of healthy soil and forests to global livelihoods. At what rate is land currently being lost to drought and desertification?
Options and results: 23 hectares per day (14%), 23 hectares per hour (43%), 23 hectares per minute (43%). The right answer is 23 hectares per minute.
Question: To what extent is your business engaged with the SGDs? Options and results: Not at all engaged (20%), somewhat engaged (20%), extremely engaged (60%). The right answer is extremely engaged!
